Safety

Cycling, like many sports, has hazards. We will spend most of our time biking on public roads with traffic from cars, buses and trucks during the course of LVs Ride. This time of riding requires caution and heads up riding. We will spend a day learning how to ride as a group and safe riding techniques before we set out on the trip. These techniques will help you to be more aware of your surroundings and keep you safe.

While we will be preparing you a few days before the trip, we ask that every rider make an effort to become familiar with safe riding and also spend time getting used to riding on public roads with other vehicles. Pick safe routes and become comfortable riding with vehicles.

The following are a few websites with excellent resources on safe riding. Please spend some time reading the resources and maybe join your local bike club or shop on a local ride. This will be great experience for the actual trip.

Wearing a helmet is required at all times while biking during this trip. This is not optional.
